5-Day Executive Development Program on AI for Responsible Mining Inaugurated at IIT-ISM Dhanbad
Dhanbad, March 10 – A five-day Executive Development Program (EDP) on Applications of Artificial Intelligence for Responsible Mining and a Sustainable Future commenced at the Entrepreneurship Development Center (EDC) building of IIT-ISM Dhanbad. The inauguration ceremony was graced by Deputy Director, IIT-ISM, Prof. Dheeraj Kumar, along with Prof. R.M. Bhattacharjee (Co-Coordinator and Dean, International Relations & Alumni Affairs), Prof. D.P. Mishra (Head, Department of Mining Engineering), and Prof. Radhakanta Koner (Coordinator of the Program).
The program aims to equip industry professionals with cutting-edge AI applications in mining, focusing on sustainability and responsible resource extraction. Several professionals from the mining industry have enrolled in the initiative, reflecting the growing interest in integrating AI technologies for enhanced safety, efficiency, and environmental responsibility in mining operations.
During the inaugural session, Prof. Dheeraj Kumar emphasized the critical role of AI in modernizing the mining sector and mitigating its environmental impact. Prof. Bhattacharjee highlighted the global relevance of AI-driven mining solutions and the importance of international collaboration. Prof. Mishra and Prof. Koner elaborated on the program’s objectives, stressing the need for industry-academia partnerships to drive innovation.
The EDP will feature expert sessions on AI-driven predictive analytics, automation in mining operations, real-time monitoring, and sustainable resource management. Participants will engage in hands-on training, case studies, and discussions on AI’s role in enhancing safety and operational efficiency in the mining sector.
